LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

 Developers aren't seeking free ride

Re: Dec. 2 letter "County should say 'no' to developers" and the Nov. 15 article "Builders call for relief on local home-impact fees."

Once again, another retired person has taken the initiative to write a letter to the editor championing the "no growth" mantra that it seems all retirees adopt once they get to Tucson.

The letter writer claims that "it's time for the developers to pay their fair share" and "pay for the infrastructure" that comes with growth.

News flash, guys. They are not only paying their fare share, they're paying the full share. The developer is not asking the county to waive the impact fees for development, only to defer them until the property generates the cash to pay for them in a market that is otherwise awful.

Go ahead, tell the supervisors to say "no" to the developers. Tell them to tell that to the thousands of people likely to lose their jobs because it isn't the people that matter, it's the growth, right?

But then again, as with most retirees, you already got yours, didn't you?
