SAHBA Nets $75,000 for UA Arthritis Center

The recent 20 th Annual SAHBA/Lute Olson Celebrity Auction, Luncheon & Golf Tournament netted about $75,000 to benefit the Arizona Arthritis Center at the UA College of Medicine.

Since being founded 20 years ago by the Southern Arizona Home Builders Association (SAHBA) and the late Saul Tobin (1973-74 SAHBA President), the event has raised $1.6 million.

The three-day fundraiser started with a Thursday Celebrity Auction with Coach Lute Olson and his players. About 250 attendees bid on the players to play golf with, game jerseys, Wildcat memorabilia, vacations and other merchandise.

On Friday, about 100 guests enjoyed an intimate “Lunch with Lute” at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse. The last day was a Saturday golf tournament at the Randolph Golf Course that matched golfers with their favorite Wildcat players. Some 225 people attended.

The 2007 effort honored Tobin , who built this into one of Tucson 's most popular golf tournaments.
