Botanical Gardens getting pavilion

The groundbreaking of the Southern Arizona Home Builders Association Pavilion will take place at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way. The cost of the 1,600-square-foot project is $150,000. John Wesley Miller, SAHBA life director, is serving as the general contractor.

The pavilion will provide an area for meetings, lectures, classes, plant sales and events for up to 200 people. It has been designed to exhibit innovative desert construction and water harvesting. Tucson Botanical Gardens is a 5 1/2-acre collection of 16 specialty gardens. It will remain open during the construction.
