SAHBA's Councils and Committees
ASSOCIATES COUNCIL: This council develops programs, events and services to support the goals and needs of our Associate members. A primary goals is to increase networking opportunities with builder members.
CARNIVAL DE GOLFE: An annual golf tournament and auction is produced to benefit local charitable organizations.
COMMUNITY SERVICES: Responsible for SAHBA's public image and relations.
CUSTOM BUILDERS COUNCIL: For custom and small volume builders in support of their needs to further their specialized goals. Sponsors a number of educational seminars throughout the year.
FINANCE: Advises all financial matters relating to SAHBA. Develops the annual budget for Board of Directors approval.
GREEN BUILD COUNCIL: Provides a forum to facilitate the understanding and acceptance of sensible green building practices. The Council will promote credible and practical green building approaches for residential construction that will result in energy-efficient, healthier and environmentally sustainable buildings.
HOME SHOW: Plans and coordinates all facets of both the Spring & Fall SAHBA Home Shows.
MEMBERSHIP: Maintains a strong SAHBA membership through retention and recruiting. Reviews membership criteria; services; develops membership goals, recruiting strategies and recognition; and incentive programs. Recommends action to the Board of Directors. Coordinates presence at the SAHBA Home Shows.
PAC (POLITICAL ACTION): Interfaces with federal, state and local elected officials regarding industry issues. Responsible for voter education, get-out-the-vote programs, and grassroots activities. Facilitates pro-housing candidate endorsements.
REMODELER'S: Addresses issues faced by remodelers. Interacts with the National Remodeler's.
SAFETY: Educates members on safety matters and OSHA compliance. Conducts seminars on various topics relating to job site safety, and safety and legal information.
SALES & MARKETING: For members who sell or market property/homes. Offers educational programs and exchange of information about area sales, funding, builder/broker relations, and new products.
TECHNICAL: Reviews city, county and state ordinances, regulations and policies relative to land-use planning, zoning and development. Is actively involved in governmental communications with appointed staff and elected officials.
VAMA: NAHB has a contract with HUD to assure fair housing.
