JTED superintendent candidates narrowed to 3 finalists

The Joint Technological Education District announced the three finalists for superintendent during a special governing board meeting this morning.

School district administrators Alan Storm of Sunnyside, Kathy Prather of Tucson Unified and Mark Hamilton of Gilbert are the finalists selected by the Arizona School Board Association. The superintendent will be chosen after Wednesday's "meet and greet" for the candidates.

In February, longtime educator Mary Belle McCorkle was selected as interim superintendent of JTED. The new district was approved in the Nov. 7 general election by voters of all 11 unified school districts in Pima County.

Under JTED, high schools will be satellite campuses where students from other participating high schools can go for subjects not offered at their own. Each district is represented by one member for the interim period, until the next general election in November 2008, when an elected board will take over.
